Discover “Little Switzerland” and the country’s blue pearl in one intense journey! Our group tour begins in Tsaghkadzor with a visit to Kecharis Monastery and a thrilling ride on the ropeway. Then, we will enjoy the coolness of Lake Sevan and the views from Sevanavank Monastery. The day concludes in green Dilijan: we will walk through picturesque Old Dilijan and visit the Haghartsin Monastery hidden in the forests.
Tsaghkadzor: Kecharis Monastery and Ropeway
The first stop is the famous winter resort of Tsaghkadzor. Here we will visit the Kecharis monastic ensemble (11th–13th centuries), which was a major spiritual center of medieval Armenia. After getting acquainted with history, the active part of the tour awaits you — a ropeway ride. We will ascend the slopes of Mount Teghenis, which offers a panoramic view of the city and mountain ranges. Crystal clear air and picturesque landscapes are guaranteed.
Lake Sevan and Sevanavank
Next, we will head to high-altitude Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world. Climbing the stairs to the peninsula, we will find ourselves at the ancient Sevanavank Monastery (9th century). It is here that our professional GUIDE will tell you the fascinating history of the construction of the black tuff temples and legends about King Ashot the Iron. This place is also perfect for photos against the backdrop of endless azure water.
Old Dilijan and Haghartsin
Passing through a mountain tunnel, we will enter the forested Tavush region. In the resort town of Dilijan, we will stroll along the historic “Old Dilijan” street (Tufenkian complex) with carved balconies and artisan workshops, immersing ourselves in the atmosphere of the 19th century. The final point will be the white-stone Haghartsin Monastery, secluded in a dense beech forest. This place is famous for its amazing harmony of nature and architecture, as well as the unique medieval refectory that has survived to this day.
