You will journey to three of Armenia’s greatest medieval temples: Haghpat and Sanahin Monasteries (UNESCO World Heritage Sites) and the ancient Odzun Basilica. Admire the architecture of the 10th–13th centuries, learn the history of medieval academies, and enjoy breathtaking views of the Debed Gorge.
Haghpat and Sanahin: UNESCO Heritage
Our journey will begin with a visit to two key sites in Lori, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. We will visit the majestic Haghpat — the largest medieval monastic complex with a legendary bell tower and rich history. Then we will see its “twin brother”—Sanahin, which served as a major educational center and academy in the 10th–13th centuries. You will compare the styles of these two monasteries, located on the plateau of the Lori Gorge, and hear fascinating stories from our guide about their history and close historical connection.
Odzun: A Witness to Early Christianity
The final architectural stop will be Odzun Monastery — one of Armenia’s oldest and most revered basilicas, dating back to the 6th century. Here you will see a unique stela memorial monument and learn how early Christian architecture blended with Byzantine influence before heading on our return journey.
Nature Panoramas
In addition to exploring history, unforgettable natural experiences await you: breathtaking mountain landscapes, dense forests, and picturesque views that inspired Armenian poets. At the end of a busy day, we will return to Yerevan.
